Based on the crime-novel series by author Caroline Graham, "Midsomer Murders" follows the efforts of Detective Chief Inspector John Barnaby to solve crimes that occur in the wealthy, isolated English county of Midsomer, a picturesque and peaceful place on the outside but one filled with amoral and snobbish eccentrics with all kinds of vices. His latest assistant is Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter. DCI Barnaby took over in series 14, replacing his older cousin, Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby, who retired.

When a village postman is brutally murdered, DCI Barnaby uncovers a hotbed of adultery within the remote hamlet of Goodman's Land; WPC Nash attempts to untangle the web of sexual liaisons in a bid to catch the killer.

A woman is killed after receiving threatening letters, setting off a chain of murders for DCI Barnaby to investigate.

The founder of the women's reading club is found murdered with her own walking stick; it becomes clear to Barnaby and Troy that the wealthy village of Midsomer Market is not the genteel and cultural seat it appears.

The community accepts that a woman's death is suicide, but her suicide note is e-mailed after her body is found.
