River heroes are at the forefront of solving the pollution and waste issues faced by our planet's waterways. Voices of Water, tells the stories of these champions and highlights the direct value of rivers to our community ecosystem and the importance of their role in the health of the planet and climate change. Through the stories of these Heroes and the projects they have undertaken we seek to raise awareness of river plastic pollution, and the commitment to solve the problem at its source upstream.

The Dommel River is the backbone of one of the most economically valuable regions in the Netherlands; known as the "Brainport Region" - a high-tech business ecosystem akin to Silicon Valley - the unique area, centered around Eindhoven, relies on urban and industrial development; development has recently come to a halt, guided by strict EU environmental targets: the Dommel River basin - once abundant with wetlands - must be fixed, and specific biodiversity levels met.

"Alternative Spring Break"
The Rivers are Life team travels to Memphis, TN for the 2025 Alternative Spring Break hosted by Living Lands and Waters; in collaboration with various educational institutions and nonprofit organizations, the volunteer river rat crew was able to remove thousands of pounds of trash from local tributaries connected to the Mississippi River; not to mention all the fun had along the way.
