Nanny Abduction Murder Trial

Cross-examination continued on the Defense's first witness during the penalty phase. James Nelson, Scott's older, brother explained what he went through as child and young teenager. Next, more of the defendant's family members came to his defense. After the long testimony from his older brother the jury listened to Scott's first cousin. The aim was to show how mitigating factors was serious enough for jurors not to send him to death row for killing Jennifer Fulford, an innocent nanny.

S1, EP16 "DNA Testing"

The jury listened to more DNA analysis of key Crime Scene evidence linking him to the death of Jennifer Fulford. Later in their deliberations the jury would have plenty of direct, physical evidence to determine Scott Nelson's role in this murder.

S1, EP17 "Confessing To The Crimes"

The detective who Scott Nelson allegedly confessed to in the killing of Jennifer Fulford took the stand. After his arrest, the defendant apparently came clean to investigators on what happened and what he exactly did. For the first time in this trial, jurors heard from the Nelson himself. At the start of the Defense's case, the defendant took the stand to give his reasoning on why he kidnapped, carjacked, robbed, and then murdered Jennifer Fulford. According to him, it was his probation officer that motivated him to kill an innocent nanny. How? The probation officer got Nelson thrown on the streets and he acted desperately in his means to survive.

S1, EP15 "Processing The Forensic Evidence"

Prosecutors delivered the DNA evidence linking the defendant to the fatal stabbing and suffocation of Jennifer Fulford. On the stand, was the stand was the biology lab analyst who examined the forensic evidence collected in this case. S1, EP14 "Collecting Key Evidence"

Jurors learned about the whereabouts of the keys to the car where the kidnapping and fatal stabbing took place. Apparently, the defendant wrote to one of the Detectives and informed them exactly where they were located. Prosecutors were determined to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Scott Nelson was the person who kidnapped, Carjacked, robbed, and then killed Jennifer Fulford. They delivered hundreds of pieces of physical evidence linking him to each of these crimes.

S1, EP13 "Locating The Murder Weapon"

More physical evidence found inside Jennifer Fulford's car was shown to jurors. Three months to the exact date that she went missing crime scene investigators found the murder weapon used in her killing. Investigators found the bloody knife 75 feet away from where the body was found. With enough direct evidence linking Scott Nelson to Fulford's kidnapping and then murder, prosecutors pushed for the death penalty.
