The Buffalo Bisons (2-2) and Worcester Red Sox (2-2) got an unscheduled off day due to inclement weather on Wednesday and are set to resume their six-game International League series on Thursday afternoon at Worcester’s Polar Park. The postponed game will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader on Friday. Buffalo, the top minor-league affiliate for the Toronto Blue Jays, takes a two-game winning streak into Thursday’s matchup while the Red Sox, the top farm club for the Boston Red Sox, lost the series opener on Tuesday. The top Boston prospect in Worcester, right-hander Richard Fitts, has yet to debut for the Red Sox after coming to the organization in the trade that sent outfielder Alex Verdugo to the New York Yankees in December. Catcher Nathan Hickey, ranked No. 18 in the system by MLB Pipeline, started the season 1-for-11 with a homer and two RBI in three games.
Infielder Orelvis Martinez, 22, checks in as the Blue Jays’ No. 2 prospect. In four games, Martinez is 3-for-15 with a double. Middle infielder Leo Jimenez, also 22, appeared in three games thus far and is 2-for-9.
The WooSox did not declare a starter for Thursday’s game. Tiedemann, who pitched at four levels last season, needed 65 pitches to work just 2.2 innings against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Friday, allowing a solo home run while striking out three.
