Top Four
Georgia
The Bulldogs finally looked like their old self as they routed No. 20 Kentucky 51-13. It was a reminder of how good they can be after they struggled in wins against both South Carolina and Auburn. They go to Vanderbilt this weekend and shouldn’t have much trouble, but the schedule gets tougher after that as they play Florida, Missouri, Ole Miss and Tennessee. We will learn a lot more about the Bulldogs during that stretch, but right now they stay at the top of this list.
Michigan
The Wolverines dominated yet another opponent on Saturday when they went to Minnesota and won 42-10. It was the first time all season they gave up more than seven points, but the defense was still absolutely suffocating against the Golden Gophers. They gave up just 169 total yards and just 52 in the air. They will once again be a huge favorite on Saturday when they welcome Indiana to town. As long as they continue to rout their opponents they will stay in the top four.
Washington
The Huskies move up a spot thanks to Texas’ loss to Oklahoma on Saturday. They were off last week and it came at a good time as it gave them an extra week to prepare for their huge game with No. 8 Oregon on Saturday. The winner of that game will be in the top four next week, while the loser may have their playoff hopes dashed. If the Huskies get past the Ducks they will play four straight ranked opponents to finish the year starting on Nov. 4.
Oklahoma
The Sooners get the nod over Florida State thanks to their win over Texas on Saturday. The Sooners haven’t struggled against a lesser opponent like the Seminoles have and we aren’t sold that their win over Clemson is a big-time win yet. The Sooners now have a fairly soft schedule the rest of the way as they have just one ranked opponent left and that is No. 23 Kansas.

In the Mix
Florida State
The Seminoles have a case for the fourth spot with their wins over LSU and Clemson, but just how good are those wins? The Sooners’ win over the Longhorns is a better win and the Seminoles also struggled to beat a bad Boston College team.
Oregon
The Ducks are in a good spot as they have a game on Saturday that will vault them into the top four of our list with a win. They travel to Washington to take on the Huskies in a huge matchup.
Ohio State
The Buckeyes shook off a slow start to beat Maryland on Saturday. The offense clicked in the second half but still has some question marks. They then get Penn State a week from Saturday, which could be an elimination game.
Penn State
The Nittany Lions had a bye week and basically have another one this week as they play UMass. It gets interesting next week with their game at Ohio State.
USC
The Trojans offense is great; their defense is not. They survived Arizona on Saturday but if the defense doesn’t get a lot better their playoff hopes are going to go up in smoke.
