Pac-12 Tournament play will begin on Thursday night for Washington and Arizona with a quarterfinal matchup.
On Thursday night, fifth-seeded Arizona and fourth-seeded Washington will meet at Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium for a quarterfinal game as the teams begin their quest for a Pac-12 tournament title. The Wildcats come into tournament play with an overall record of 33-15-1 after finishing with a conference record of 13-11. The team capped regular season play with a narrow 3-2 victory over Grand Canyon last week in front of a home crowd. Dakota Kennedy powered the offense, going 4-for-4 with two RBI from her two solo home runs in the first and fourth innings. Aissa Silva took the win in the circle, striking out seven and giving up one earned run on four hits in five innings of work.

The Huskies bring a three game losing streak into the quarterfinal round of the tournament with the most recent being a close 2-1 loss to Utah in the final Pac-12 series of the season to bring their conference record to 13-10 and their overall record to 31-12. Collectively, the Huskies have homered in 14 of the last 16 games for a total of 29 homers in that timeframe. Washington has five Huskies in the top 20 in the Pac-12 in slugging percentage; Brooke Nelson is fifth at .726 followed by Rylee Holtorf (7th) at .674, Alana Johnson (11th) at .647, Sydney Stewart (19th) at .584 and Kinsey Fiedler (20th) at .579. The team is first in the conference with a .545 slugging percentage and will look to those heavy hitters to keep the dream of Pac-12 tournament title alive this week.
When these two teams met during conference play this season, Washington took the first two games in six innings while Arizona earned a win in the finale to avoid the sweep. The winner of this game will go on to play either UCLA or Arizona State in the semifinal round.
