The day is winding to an end with the final match of the day taking center court and featuring last year’s runner-up at the French Open.
During his run last year to the French Open finals, Tsitsipas went through incredible competition, beating the then-ranked No. 31 John Isner, No. 12 Pablo Carreno Busta, and No. 2 Daniil Medvedev and No. 6 Alexander Zverev before falling to the best player in the world.
This year’s journey starts with No. 66 ranked Lorenzo Musetti, the 20-year-old Italian who turned professional in 2019.
So far this season, Musetti has wins over Hubert Hurkacz and Felix Auger-Aliassime to his name and has been competitive against top-ranked foes. He is looking for arguably the biggest win of his young career.
For Tsitsipas, he made it to the Australian Open semifinals this year while getting to three total semifinals overall and two finals in 2022.
This is the third match between the two head-to-head, with Tsitsipas taking both matches in 2021, one in France at the Lyon France event on clay. In those two matches, Tsitsipas is 4-1 in sets and 28-13 in games overall.
