Christin Stewart cracked two home runs on Friday night as the Red Sox rolled to a 10-2 victory and remained four-and-a-half games behind first-place Buffalo in the International League’s East Division. Connor Wong and Ryan Fitzgerald also went deep.
The Knights scored first, getting a leadoff homer from Mark Payton, before Worcester rolled to a four-run frame in the bottom of the inning. It was a bullpen game for the Red Sox, as starter Connor Seabold came out after one inning. Six pitchers combined to allow eight hits and strike out 11 batters.
Charlotte hasn’t announced a starter for Saturday, while Worcester will give the ball to right-hander Brian Keller, who is 1-3 in nine starts and 14 appearances. In 41.2 innings, Keller has a 4.54 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 46 strikeouts. He worked a perfect inning of relief on Wednesday and last started on June 17, taking the loss against Toledo.
