The NASCAR season is back finally back underway and it couldn't have come soon enough. After all sports shut down last year, NASCAR was one of if not the first sport back on television, to help fill in the void left by sports. It did not disappoint last year as Chase Elliott won his first Cup Series in the season finale in Phoenix.

But last year started off with one of the biggest races of the entire season down in Daytona. Denny Hamlin led for 79 laps and won in back-to-back years at the historic venue and he has won a there a total of three times. That brings us to this year where he has a chance to win it three times on a row as the NASCAR season opens this Valentine's Day.

How to Watch Daytona 500

When: Sunday, February 14
Where: Daytona International Speedway
Time: 2:30 p.m. ET
TV: FOX
Live Stream: fuboTV (watch NASCAR free with fuboTV)

No driver has ever won three in a row at Daytona. There have only been three drivers besides Hamlin to go back-to-back. First was Richard Petty in 1973-74, then Cale Yarborough in 1983-84 and finally Sterling Martin in 1994-95. While this race won't have nearly the 100,000 fans in attendance like usual, it will have the most of any sport in America since the pandemic. There will be a reported 30,000 in the stands where the Super Bowl had 25,000. Maybe not a coincidence both events are in Florida.

Unfortunately there seems to be a good chance of rain in the forecast for Sunday afternoon so hopefully it won't delay this race. Hamlin has the best odds to win this race but there will be plenty of other drivers on his tail. The 2020 champ Elliott has the second best odds and Kyle Busch is in the top-10 despite a rough 2020 season.

Bubba Wallace will be debuting for Michael Jordan's new racing team running of course the number 23 car. Wallace led a vaillant movement last season and has momentum coming off that historic season. He also had success at this track finishing second in 2018 and he was the fastest car in Wednesday's practice. Coming off an historic 2020, this season is likely to be yet another that is anything but normal. Whatever happens, we're just happy NASCAR is back.
