These are the final games of spring training for both teams heading into the start of the regular season next week. The final opportunities to build momentum, some rhythm and a team that can make a run to the World Series. For New York, it is coming off a third losing season in four years and is looking to get back to the playoffs for just the second time in eight years.

    Cristian Javier (2-1) is on the mound for Houston in his final warm-up before the season. He has 14 strikeouts in 14.2 innings in four starts with a 4.30 ERA coming off another strong regular season for a World Series contender.

    He faces off with New York’s veteran left-hander Jose Quintana (0-1). This season in spring training Quintana has 12 strikeouts in 13.0 innings pitched with a 4.15 ERA in his four previous starts. Both pitchers are getting in their final reps before the regular season gets started next week.

    Heading into the regular season Houston is one of the three favorites to make a run and win the World Series. Houston made back-to-back World Series in 2021 and 2022, winning the franchise’s second championship. This season they are in a great position to win a third World Series heading into this season.
