Cal will look to extend its win streak to 10 games on Friday night with a victory over Stanford.
On Friday night, Cal will take a trip to the Sunken Diamond to play Stanford in the first game of the teams’ Pac-12 series. The Cardinal are currently in seventh place in the Pac-12 standings with a conference record of 9-9 and an overall record of 17-21. Earlier this week, the team took on Santa Clara on the road for a non-conference game and ultimately fell 4-2. Temo Becerra hit a fly out to center field to bring home Stanford’s first run and give his team a 1-0 lead, but a three-run fourth inning gave the Broncos the lead. Trevor Haskins hit an RBI single in the eighth, but that’s where the scoring would stop for Stanford, coming up just short. The loss went to Ryan Speshyock who threw for 3.1 innings and struck out three batters.
