No. 9 Georgia (37-12) bounced back to beat No. 12 Florida (38-12) on Saturday, evening their three-game Southeastern Conference series at a game apiece. The rubber game takes place Sunday afternoon at Turner Softball Stadium in Athens, Georgia. With the loss, third-place Florida fell three games behind first-place Tennessee in the SEC race with four games remaining. Georgia, at 11-9, sits fifth and has no path to the regular-season championship. The Gators’ streak of consecutive NCAA tournament appearances stands at 22, with 11 Women’s College World Series trips and national titles in 2014 and 2015 in that span. The Bulldogs qualified for their first NCAA tourney in 2002 and haven’t missed since, with 21 straight appearances. None of their five visits to the WCWS resulted in a championship.

Georgia broke out the thunder during a seven-run fifth inning, unloading three home runs in its 11-6 victory on Saturday. Jayda Kearney hit a three-run shot, Sara Mosley followed with a solo blast and, one batter later, Jaiden Fields drove a ball over the wall for two more runs. Sydney Kuma hits .365/.503/.587. Kearney leads the team with 16 homers and Mosley tops the squad with 55 RBI.

Florida took the lead with a four-run fourth, powered by Ariel Kowalewski’s grand slam. Ava Brown and Korbe Otis added solo shots later in the game. Otis slashes .443/.578/.687, Reagan Walsh provides the power with 15 homers, Jocelyn Erickson owns 61 RBI and Skylar Wallace has 31 steals in 32 attempts.

Lili Backes (15-5) picked up the win on Saturday and leads the Bulldogs with 127.2 innings in the circle, posting a 2.41 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. Keagan Rothrock (19-5) rested Saturday and paces the Gators with 159 innings to go with a 2.29 ERA and 1.04 WHIP.
