Noah Thomasson and No. 4-seeded Georgia will take the court against Bruce Thornton and No. 2-seeded Ohio State tonight.

The No. 4 seed Georgia will head on the road to take on the No. 2 seed Ohio State at the Value City Arena in the quarterfinals of the NIT in Columbus, Ohio, tonight. The Buckeyes finished the season with 13 losses including one against No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Illinois, to be knocked out of the Big Ten Tournament in the quarterfinals landing them in the NIT. They were matched up against Cornell in the first round of the tournament and won by just five points. Jamison Battle led the team in that first round with 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting and eight rebounds with five assists. Moving on to the second round, Ohio State met the ACC’s Virginia Tech. The win margin was a little wider in the second round beating VT by eight points 81-73. Battle again led the team dropping 21 points with 10 rebounds. Bruce Thornton, who led the team in scoring all season, had 12 points and a team-high seven assists with six rebounds pushing the team on to the quarterfinals.

The Bulldogs from the SEC finished their season with 16 losses, one of which was against Florida in the second round of the SEC Tournament. They opened up play in the NIT against the Big East’s Xavier and won by just two points on the back of 16 points and four assists to lead the team from Silas Demary Jr.

They advanced onto the second round where they too met an ACC team and took down Wake Forest by six points, 72-66. Justin Hill dominated that game with 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting in 26 minutes off the bench. Noah Thomasson had 19 points and four rebounds in that win.
