A rivalry match will take place between Michigan and Michigan State on Tuesday night in Ann Arbor.
Michigan State will take a short road trip to Ann Arbor on Tuesday night to play in-state rival Michigan in a women’s Big Ten matchup. The Spartans have struggled this season and are currently in last place in the conference standings with a Big Ten record of 2-11 and 15-25 overall. Over the weekend, the team traveled to State College to take on Penn State and were able to pick up a 6-2 win in the finale to avoid the sweep. Britain Beshears led at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI while six other Spartans recorded hits. In the circle, Madison Taylor improved to 3-10 on the season with 3.2 innings of work in which she struck out two batters.

The Wolverines bring a five-game win streak into Tuesday’s game after sweeping Iowa over the weekend to improve to 10-3 in conference play and 29-14 overall. Each game was decided by two runs or less, but Michigan pulled each game out with the finale being a 6-5 victory. Ava Costales led the offensive play for the Wolverines, finishing the game with four RBI from a three-run shot in the sixth and an RBI single in the seventh. Keke Tholl also recorded a home run in the sixth to center field. Hannah George finished the game out for Michigan, throwing for 0.2 innings to earn the win.
Michigan State and Michigan met on April 9th in East Lansing and Michigan won handily in an 11-5 victory.
