Alex Honnold and the No. 10 Missouri will take the field against Jocelyn Erickson and No.8 ranked Florida in the championship game.
The No. 10 ranked team in the nation, Missouri, will take the field in Auburn, Alabama, against the No. 8 ranked team in the country, Florida, for the championship game of the Southeastern Conference softball tournament this afternoon. The Tigers are 43-14 overall this season and 13-11 against SEC teams throughout this season. They opened up tournament play with a 3-1 win against Ole Miss to start the tournament. Alex Honnold hit a two-run RBI double in the third inning as the best play of that first game. They advanced on to go to battle against Arkansas yesterday morning and won 3-1 again. It was Jenna Laird who was the hero of the second game with two hits, two runs, and an RBI in the win. Later that day, the team took on the No. 12 ranked team in the country, LSU, and won 2-1 to allow them to advance to the championship game. Maddie Gallagher hit a two-run home run in the win to catapult the team to the final game. Kara Daly wasn’t even spoken of despite leading the team in homers this season with seven and 31 RBIs.

The Gators are 45-12 overall this season and 17-7 against teams apart of the same conference as Missouri. They didn’t enter the tournament until yesterday and made quick work of Georgia in the team’s first game 9-4. Skylar Wallace, Emily Wilkie, and Jocelyn Erickson all homered in the game with Wallace also finishing with four RBIs and Erickson three RBIs.
Later that day, they took down Texas A&M as well 7-2. Keagan Rothrock picked up her 25th win of the season while Wallace homered once again with two RBIs. Mia Williams also hit a ball out of the park with three home runs herself. Erickson had another two RBIs despite not homering.
