The Houston Astros will take the field at Comerica Park for the second time in this three-game series against the Detroit Tigers in Michigan on Saturday night. The Astros came to New York and won the first game 5-2 yesterday night. Frambler Valdez picked up the win, his second of the season. He pitched 7.0 innings allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks. Kyle Tucker was the only player in Houston to blast a ball out of the park with a 409-foot homer. Four other players on the team finished with an RBI including Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman, Yainer Diaz, and Jeremy Pena. Both of the Tiger’s two runs were batted in in the third inning by Matt Vierling on a two-run RBI double. They will need more people to get involved if they hope to win this game today.
Hunter Brown will get the start for Houston on the mound in the second game of the series. He is 0-4 this season with a high 8.89 ERA and 29 strikeouts over 27.1 innings pitched. He pitched 4.1 innings in his last start that ended in a 5-4 loss against the Seattle Mariners giving up two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Detroit will start the game in the first inning of this game with Tarik Skubal on the mound. The left-hander is undefeated at 4-0 in his 2024 campaign with a low 1.90 ERA and 53 strikeouts over 42.2 innings. He pitched 6.0 innings allowing two earned runs on six hits with 12 strikeouts against the New York Yankees.
