Arkansas State gets a 2nd straight crack at the national championship when it faces top-seeded Jacksonville State on Saturday night
Arkansas State, the No. 2 seed in the NCAA bowling tournament, advanced to the championship round on Saturday morning with a sweep of third-seeded Youngstown State. The Red Wolves take on top-seed Jacksonville State in the national championship final at the Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Michigan, on Saturday night. The Gamecocks are in the championship round for the first time in program history while Arkansas State lost in its previous three appearances, including a 4-3 loss to Vanderbilt last year in Las Vegas. The Red Wolves fell to Maryland Eastern Shore in 2008 and lost to Nebraska in 2021.

The format for the final is a Baker best-of-seven, in which all five bowlers on the team participate by rolling two frames each. The rest of the rounds in the tournament use a mega-match format that begins with a traditional team game followed by a five-game, total-pin Baker game If the match is tied, a best-of-seven Baker determines the winner.
Jacksonville State reached the final with a sweep of Arkansas State in the winner’s bracket semifinal on Friday. Crystal Elliott rolled a 256 in the traditional team match, in which all five players topped 200 for a 1,098-974 victory before rallying from 10 pins down in the fifth game of the Baker for a 1,112-1,067 win.
The Red Wolves bounced back from a 69-pin deficit in the traditional round to grab a 964-851 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday morning. Brooklyn Buchanan paced Arkansas State with a 217. It took the five-game Baker 1,112-1,002 to advance to its third championship final in four years.
