Stanford and Cal will meet Monday night in their final non-conference game in Berkeley.
On Monday night, Cal will host Stanford at Stu Gordon Stadium for the teams’ final non-conference game ahead of the final Pac-12 series of the season this weekend. The Cardinal is currently in eighth place in the Pac-12 standings with a conference record of 11-16 and an overall record of 20-28. The team is on a six game losing streak with the most recent being a 16-7 loss to Arizona State to suffer a sweep at the hands of the Sun Devils. Jimmy Nati led Stanford offensively, going 4-for-5 with five RBI from a three-run homer in the fourth and a two-run homer in the fifth. Toran O’Harran took the loss on the mound with three innings of work in which he gave up five earned runs and four strikeouts.

The Golden Bears are just above the Cardinal in the standings and earned their 30th win of the season over the weekend to move to 30-18 overall and 14-13 in Pac-12 play. The team took on San Jose State in their penultimate conference series, winning the first two games before falling 8-2 in the finale. Dominic Smaldino and Caleb Lomavita accounted for Cal’s runs as Smaldino it a solo homer in the fifth inning and Lomavita hit a double in the seventh to bring home Smaldino. Trey Newman was credited with the loss on the mound after pitching 4.2 innings and giving up seven earned runs, two of which were home runs and two of which were walked home. He struck out six batters in the loss.
When Cal and Stanford met two weeks ago in their Pac-12 series, Stanford won the first two games by scores of 8-6 and 15-6, respectively, before Cal won the finale 7-4.
