The New York Yankees will take the field at Progressive Field for the third and final game of this three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians in Ohio. After a rainout on Friday, these two teams played a double-header yesterday that ended with the Yankees taking both wins and a 2-0 record in the series. They won the first game by just one run 3-2. Alex Verdugo scored on an error for the first run while Oswaldo Cabrera hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to go up 3-0. Tyler Freeman had the RBIs for the Guardians in the sixth inning. That night, New York won by a larger margin, 8-2. Again, the team got out to an 8-0 lead before Cleveland had any runs on the board. Juan Soto hit the only home run for New York with three RBIs on his only hit of the night. Five other players had RBIs in the game for New York. Josh Naylor and Estevan Florial hit home runs for Cleveland in the later part of the game.

Luis Gil, who was supposed to start last night until the team opted to go another route with it being a double-header, will get the start for New York tonight. The right-hander has pitched 9.0 innings this season with three earned runs conceded and a total of 14 strikeouts on 179 pitches.
On the opposite side, Logan Allen will get the nod for Cleveland in this last game of the series. The left-hander is undefeated this season at 2-0 with an ERA of 4.60. He went 4.0 innings in his last start giving up five earned runs on seven hits with just four strikeouts. He will look to bounce back starting tonight.
