The New York Islanders and Florida Panthers have had very similar weeks as the regular season starts to wind down. Both the Islanders and Panthers have lost four of their last five games in the exact same order. Both are coming off a loss and with this most recent streak, Florida has dropped to second in the Atlantic Division two points behind the Boston Bruins. The Panthers lost 4-3 to Boston on Tuesday in their last game. Florida held the lead three different times but the Bruins kept coming back. The game was as even as can be with both teams tallying 21 shots. Pavel Zacha was the one that broke through late for the game winner for Boston to take the 3-0 season-series lead.

The good news for Florida is that the Islanders have lost four games in a row on the road. New York is coming off 4-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Sunday as it tries to keep its playoff chances alive. The Islanders are six games back of the Wild Card and seven points back of the Washington Capitals for the last spot in the Metropolitan Division. The Islanders actually had more shots than the Devils, but Kaapo Kahkonen was special in net making 36 stops for his first shutout of the season.
