Carter Jensen and the Quad Cities River Bandits will take the field against Brett Bateman and the South Bend Cubs on Sunday.
The Quad Cities River Bandits will close out a six-game series on the road with game No. 6 on Sunday afternoon against the South Bend Cubs in Illinois. The River Bandits came into this series with an 11-4 record before winning two of the first three games of the start of the series. They took down the Peoria Chiefs, an affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals five games to one in the team’s last six-game series. In the first game of the series back on Tuesday, Quad Cities picked up an 8-5 win. There were no home runs in the game for Quad Cities, but there were six different players in the lineup that came away with an RBI. Third baseman and nine-hole hitter Deivis Nadal had two of the seven RBIs on his only hit of the night. Catcher Carter Jensen bats the best percentage on the team at .339.

The Cubs are the worst team in the Midwest division of the Midwest League with a record of 4-11 heading into this series. They are 8.0 games behind the divisional-leading Quad Cities and two games behind Peoria in front of them. They won two of six games against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the series before this one.
In that first game of the series, center fielder Brett Bateman finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Yohendrick Pianago had the best game of the day for South Bend with three RBIs on three hits with a walk as well. His batting average is now up to .310 on the season which is the No. 3 rank on the team.
