The Washington Nationals will stay on the road for the second game of a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in South Philly on Saturday night. The Phillies came away with the first win in the series last night 4-2 at home. Zack Wheeler picked up the win pitching 7.1 innings allowing two earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Alec Bohm put the first run on the board in the bottom of the first inning scoring J.T. Realmuto. Keibert Ruiz batted in Ildemaro Vargas in the second inning to tie the game 1-1. Brandon Marsh scored in the bottom of the second on a wild pitch followed by Edmundo Sosa scoring on a Kyle Schwarber ground out to lead 3-1 at the end of the second inning. Marsh put the last Philadelphia run on the board in the bottom of the third inning scoring Bryson Stott. Washington’s Eddie Rosario scored CJ Abrams in the top of the fifth for the team’s second run, but the team didn’t put any more on the board.

MacKenzie Gore will get the start for Washington on the mound in the middle game of the series. The left-hander is 2-4 this season with a 3.38 ERA and 51 strikeouts over 40.0 innings. He allowed two earned runs over 6.0 innings with nine strikeouts in a 3-2 loss against the Boston Red Sox on the road in his last start.

Philadelphia will take the field in the top of the first inning with Christopher Sanchez on the mound.
