The Astros and Yankees play in a rare one-off game before starting their next series.
It might look like Groundhog Day in New York for the Astros. More than a week ago, Houston swept the Mets at home in a two-game series. Then the Astros split a four-game series with the Yankees in the Bronx. Then they swept the Mets again in a two-game series in Queens. Now they’ll play the Yankees back in Houston for a one-off game.

The Astros only gave up one run across two games against the Mets. Justin Verlander dominated in game two for a 2-0 Houston win on Wednesday, going eight innings without giving up a run. The Astros didn’t have a run until the top of the ninth when Jason Castro hit a two-run shot which turned out to be the game-winner. The Yankees, meanwhile, have won four straight, including their last game against the Astros and a sweep of the Oakland Athletics in their previous series.
The Yankees and Astros have seemingly met their match as we are likely to see these two face off in the playoffs again. In this rare one-off game, we will see Luis Severino of the Yankees (4-2, 3.38 ERA) go against Luis Garcia (5-5, 3.68 ERA) of Houston. Who will break the season series tie?
