Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers face-off with Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.
Since returning from a 29-game absence due to injury, Joel Embiid has slowly started to ramp up his game. He has led the Philadelphia 76ers (43-35) to three straight wins heading into Sunday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs (19-58). The last time these teams took the court one of the best big man duels of the season was the result. In that game Embiid went off for a career-high and franchise record 70 points along with 18 rebounds and five assists. Embiid was utterly unstoppable in the game, going 23-for-39 from inside the three-point line and 21-for-23 from the free throw line.

In his three games back from injury Embiid has scored more points and looked more like his MVP self each game. He is averaging 27.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
The other half of the duel featured rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama who kept the pressure on all game making Philadelphia need virtually every point Embiid scored. He finished with 33 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks on 11-of-12 shooting from the free throw line.
This season Wembanyama has stepped up in the biggest moments and against the biggest stars in the NBA today. In the nine games Wembanyama has gone for 30-plus points the team is 5-4 with monster performances against Embiid, Anthony Davis, Jalen Brunson, Kevin Durant and Stephon Curry this season.
