Top 5 Fantasy Football Sleepers in Week 5

With bye weeks on the horizon, sleeper plays in the FLEX positions become that much more needed in order to win games. Here are the top five.

The fantasy world was shaken last week with injuries happening all around the NFL and managers left to pick up the pieces of their teams this week. On top of that, bye weeks start this week with the Chargers, Seahawks, Browns and Buccaneers all being rested on the bench. If for some reason your team has been left in shambles and you’re torn on what potential FLEX-caliber person to put into your starting lineup, look no further than to this list of the top five sleepers that have the potential to come off big in Week 5.

Jaleel McLaughlin, RB, Denver Broncos

Jaleel McLaughlin is the last person on this list because he is conditional. McLaughlin will only be a flex play if Javonte Williams isn’t ready to suit up after an injury last week. Despite the depth chart saying Semaje Perine is the next up, it was McLaughlin who saw the majority of the work in Williams’ absence. McLaughlin carried the ball seven times for 72 yards averaging 10.3 yards per carry. He also caught three passes for 32 yards and a touchdown finishing as the RB10 on the week.

Michael Wilson, WR, Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals were never projected to be a good team this season. However, Joshua Dobbs has been finding a rhythm with this offense and Michael Wilson is slowly becoming a huge part of his vision. After catching just five passes for 75 yards in the first two weeks, Wilson had a decent Week 3 with two catches for 86 yards and 10.60 fantasy points. Last week, he exploded onto the scene. He caught all seven targets for 76 yards and two touchdowns finishing with 26.60 points and as the WR6 on the week.

Tyler Boyd, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

I struggled with this selection because even though Tee Higgins might miss time, the Bengals offense is not something that I really want to get involved with at this point in the season considering how poorly it is performing. I’m actually at the point of benching Burrow until he shows something. However, with Burrow mainly looking underneath the secondary, Boyd could thrive in the absence of Higgins. Even with Higgins, he has seen over seven targets a game in the last three weeks. That number should only increase if he becomes the WR2 on the team.

Nico Collins, WR, Houston Texans

Collins is probably more owned than the previous three players on this list. However, C.J. Stroud is proving that he is the quarterback the Texans hoped they were getting when selecting him with the No. 2 pick in the draft. He has now selected a top receiver that he likes to target and that person is Nico Collins. Collins has now had two of four games this season finishing as the WR5 or better in the league. He caught seven passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns finishing with 35.80 points. He should only continue this streak as Stroud continues to target him.

Christian Watson, WR, Green Bay Packers

Christian Watson is the most currently owned player on this list and after last week, I can see how managers would be skeptical of his production going forward. Jordan Love has been dominant, except for most of last week, which just so happened to be Watson’s first week back from injury. In his first week back, Watson caught two of four targets for just 25 yards. He would have finished with just 4.50 points if it wasn’t for a touchdown that saved his value for the week. Despite that though, I am still part of the crowd that thinks Watson will go back to the five receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown player he was last year.
