After a close call in its maiden Premier League clash with Arsenal, Luton has revenge in sight as it visits the Emirates for the first time on Wednesday.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side can once again move to the top of the Premier League with a home win over Luton Town on Wednesday – even if that rise to the summit lasts all of 24 hours. The Gunners are at home to Rob Edwards’ relegations battlers, where a win would take the host one point clear of Liverpool at the summit after drawing 0-0 at Manchester City over the weekend. And fans will be hoping for a repeat of the entertainment levels produced when these teams last faced off in December, with Declan Rice’s 97th-minute decider crushing Luton’s dreams in a seven-goal thriller.

That was just one of numerous close calls this season that’s displayed Luton’s heart and willingness to take chances against big opposition, only to come away empty-handed in the end.
Goals from Gabriel Osho, Elijah Adebayo and Ross Barkley put Luton in front for all of three minutes at one point in that clash, only for England star Rice to mark a momentous occasion in Arsenal colors with his last-gasp winner.
This will be the Hatters’ first trip to Arsenal’s turf since 1991, but one has to look back as far as 1959 to find the last time Luton managed to beat the Gunners away from home.
And the visitor may struggle to end that drought with a bulk of players unavailable for the clash, including two of their scorers from the reverse fixture, Adebayo and Osho.
Tom Lockyer, Amari’i Bell, Jacob Brown and Mads Andersen are also crocked at present, while Albert Sambi Lokonga, Tahith Chong and Alfie Doughty are listed as doubts ahead of the trip.
Arteta, meanwhile, is close to boasting an entirely clean bill of health, with long-term absentee Jurrien Timber his only missing man as things stand.
