The final of the Fútbol CONCACAF Liga de Naciones comes down to Mexico and the USA after the clubs took care of business in the semifinals. Mexico shutout Panama in the semifinals 3-0 while the USA came away with a 3-1 win over Jamaica in its semifinal matchup. Both teams played terrific all-around soccer leading to an appearance in the Fútbol CONCACAF Liga de Naciones championship match Sunday. Now they will have their toughest test of all in the championship match. The third place match between Panama and Jamaica takes place just before this match for a full day of action on the pitch.

Mexico played a patient match in the semifinals against Panama, not scoring until the 40th minute when Edison Alvarez was able to get the team on the scoreboard. Julian Quinones added another goal three minutes later and Orbelin Pineda ended the scoring in the 67th minute with his goal to add an exclamation point on the win.
Haji Wright led the USA offense with two goals, as the team was aggressive all match in the semifinals. He finished with two goals while Cory Burke scored the team’s other goal after falling behind early.
Team USA was in attack mode all game with 25 shots compared to Jamaica’s six, but with only seven on target the team was consistently taking inefficient shots. When it was on target, the USA team scored three goals on seven attempts, which is an efficient path to come away with a win in the championship game today against a very tough Mexico team in the Fútbol CONCACAF Liga de Naciones championship match.
