The match marks the first leg between the two sides in the tournament quarterfinals. The South Florida club owned by David Beckham advanced to the final eight thanks to a 5-3 aggregate victory over Nashville in the round of 16. The two MLS sides met to a 2-2 draw on March 7 at Geodis Park. Former FC Barcelona attacking duo Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez got on the scoresheet in the draw away from home in the first leg.

Former Cincinnati striker Brandon Vazquez scored the club’s lone goal in the 1-0 win in the first leg. Then, Luis Romo and Vazquez got on the scoresheet in the 2-1 second-leg victory at home.
