These two teams previously met twice very early in the season. They played in Tampa on Oct. 21, when the Leafs won 4-3 in overtime. A few weeks later on Nov. 6, the Leafs won again in overtime, this time 6-5 at home. This will be the third of four matchups, with the two teams also playing in the regular season finale.
Tampa Bay comes into this game on a heater – the Lightning are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. However, their nine-game point streak came to an end last time out on Monday, when they fell 4-2 to the Detroit Red Wings to wrap up a three-game homestand.
The Maple Leafs have won three games in a row heading into this one. Their offense has been clicking with at least three goals in each game, including a 6-4 win over the Florida Panthers in their most recent outing on Monday.
