BBVA Stadium is set to host the exciting mid-week matchup between home side Monterrey and the visiting Columbus Crew on Wednesday in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinals. The two sides met in the first leg of the draw last Wednesday at Lower.com Field in Ohio. The reigning MLS champion took the lead in the 25th minute when Cucho Hernández found the back of the net, assisted by Jacen Russell-Rowe. Then, los Rayados found an equalizer 13 minutes into the second half via Maxi Meza, who was assisted by Jesús Gallardo. Finally, it was Russell-Rowe who scored the game-winner for Columbus in the 72nd minute, assisted by Sean Zawadzki.

Los Rayados followed up the loss to the Crew with a 5-2 thrashing of Necaxa in the final match of the clausura 2024 regular season. Germán Berterame, Sergio Canales (twice), Arturo González and Brandon Vazquez all found the back of the net to head into the postseason with a win.
The club from Monterrey will now have to face eternal rival Tigres UANL, with the first leg of the quarterfinals being set for May 8 at Universitario Stadium. The second leg will then be played on May 11 at BBVA Stadium.
Meanwhile, Columbus hosted Montréal to a scoreless draw on Saturday at Lower.com Field.
