It’s make-or-break time for Burnley as it travels to Tottenham in need of a win to salvage its Premier League future.

Tottenham’s hopes of finishing among the Premier League’s top four this season are riding on the club ending its streak of four losses when Burnley make the visit to north London on Saturday. Spurs sit seven points off the Champions League places with three games left to play—including a game in hand over Aston Villa in fourth—but find themselves in the midst of a woeful run of late. Meanwhile, Burnley is in a different kind of do-or-die mode and is guaranteed to return to the Championship next season unless it can win on Saturday and cut the five-point gap between it and safety.

To say the return to Premier League action has been a chore for Burnley fans would be an understatement, particularly after Vincent Kompany’s men lost 4-1 at home to Newcastle last time out.

Prior to that, Burnley had recorded just one defeat in eight outings and looked to be in good stead for a late, great escape, only for that to once again look uncertain ahead of Week 37.

Tottenham also leaked four goals in its last outing and performed only marginally better in a 4-2 defeat at Liverpool, which featured a nightmarish opening 45 minutes as the Reds ran rampant:

Things can’t get much worse than that for Ange Postecoglou & Co, who will be banking on Burnley to provide much simpler opposition than they’re recently had to contend with.

That also looks likely considering Spurs have already beaten Burnley twice this season, which includes a dominant 5-2 victory at Turf Moor in the league last September.

Oliver Skipp is an option to start at left-back after the midfielder came on in that role against Liverpool, with Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon each sidelined for Spurs.

Meanwhile, Maxime Esteve and Lucas Koleosho are new concerns for Kompany, who could be forced into changes as Burnley’s top-flight fate rests on a knife’s edge.
