The Republic of Ireland drew a matchup with Armenia to open up the Nation’s League. Ireland led the game in possession at 68% and total shots with 13. The club trailed by one shot on goal 3-2.
Despite that statistical dominance, Armenia’s Eduard Spertsyan was able to get through the defense and put a goal in the net in the 74th minute to give Armenia the win in the first game.
Ukraine has yet to play a game in UEFA Nation’s League and that means that this game is the one that will open up league play for the club. Ukraine starts this bid in the league after losing to Wales in the World Cup Qualifying playoffs last week.
Andriy Yarmolenko leads the team in goal with four through four international friendlies this year. Roman Yaremchuk and Oleksandr Zinchenko have two apiece.
