Sweet-natured Alice Sycamore (Jean Arthur) falls for banker's son Tony Kirby (James Stewart). But when she invites her snooty prospective in-laws to dinner to give their blessing to the marriage, Alice's peculiar extended family -- including philosophical grandfather Martin Vanderhof (Lionel Barrymore), hapless fledgling ballerina sister Essie (Ann Miller) and fireworks enthusiast father, Paul (Samuel S. Hinds) -- might be too eccentric for the staid Kirbys.
Paula
After her second miscarriage, Paula Rogers (Loretta Young) learns she is sterile. On the way to a reception for her professor husband, John (Kent Smith), a distraught Paula accidentally hits an orphan (Tommy Rettig) with her car. Thinking Paula is drunk, farmer Raymond Bascom (Will Wright) takes the boy to the hospital. Unwilling to confess her role in the hit-and-run for fear of derailing John's career, Paula volunteers at the hospital and helps Davey recover without admitting her guilt.

As the co-owner and ringmaster of a traveling circus, Monica Rivers (Joan Crawford) is always preoccupied with filling seats. Following the accidental death of a tightrope walker, Rivers is pleased to see her profits increase and callously unconcerned with the demise of her employee -- in fact, she soon hires handsome Frank Hawkins (Ty Hardin) to replace him. Clumsy sanitation worker Red Jones (Red Skelton) is fired from his street-cleaning job shortly after his girlfriend, Ann Elliot (Janet Blair), refuses his marriage proposal until he betters himself. While training to become a door-to-door salesman, he accidentally stumbles into a murder investigation when the corrupt sanitation commissioner (Nicholas Joy) who had fired him is killed. When the murder weapon is found to be one of the brushes Red sells, he must fight to prove his innocence.
The Trouble With Angels
Mary (Hayley Mills) and her friend, Rachel (June Harding), are new students at St. Francis Academy, a boarding school run by the iron fist of Mother Superior (Rosalind Russell). The immature teens grow bored and begin playing pranks on both the unsuspecting nuns and their unpleasant classmates, becoming a constant thorn in Mother Superior's side. However, as the years pass, Mary and Rachel slowly mature and begin to see the nuns in a different light.

Milquetoast Humphrey Briggs (Eddie Albert) and his impetuous girlfriend, Sally Elliot (Lucille Ball), are office workers at a shipping firm whose corrupt owner, Harvey Simpson (Jerome Cowan), uses his company as a front for a massive smuggling operation. When an accident causes Simpson's rich and jealous wife (Lee Patrick) to assume he's cheating on her, the lovebirds get unwillingly drawn into a murder investigation involving a stripper (Gale Robbins) and a hired killer (Fred Graham).
Bell, Book and Candle
In the late 1950s, Gillian Holroyd (Kim Novak) is a modern-day witch living in New York City's Greenwich Village. When she encounters charming publisher Shepherd Henderson (James Stewart), she decides to make him hers by casting a love spell. Gillian takes added pleasure in doing so because Henderson is engaged to her old college rival (Janice Rule). However, Gillian finds herself actually falling for Shepherd, which poses a problem: She will lose her powers if she falls in love.
