SC v. Alex Murdaugh

Suitcase Murder Trial

S1, EP8 "Cellphone Extraction"

Cellphone data extraction made its way into this trial. Prosecutors wanted to show the jury beyond reasonable doubt that Sarah Boone intentionally killed Jorge Torres, her boyfriend at the time, by keeping him zipped up in a suitcase and then leaving him to die overnight. The defendant apparently video recorded her boyfriend stuck in the suitcase pleading to get out. It was in two different clips on her cellphone authorities seized in their murder investigation.

S1, EP9 "Police Interview"

The Defense had specific questions for a digital forensics examiner. It was under cross-examination and jurors were learning of the digital evidence that linked the defendant to the death of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, inside their apartment. Next, the police interrogation of Sarah Boone was introduced to the jury. On the stand, was the lead investigator on this case. Hours after Jorge Torres was found dead inside a suitcase, police immediately began questioning her on all that had transpired.

Suitcase Murder Trial

S1, EP10 "Gathering Incriminating Evidence"

Jurors heard for the first time from Sarah Boone. Prosecutors brought in the police interrogation where she initially told detectives the events that led up to Jorge Torres' death. Jurors listened to her talk about what she remembered happened. In recorded cellphone footage Torres' voice could be heard from inside the suitcase that he was trapped in. He was heard calling out Boone's name and telling her he could not breathe. The State wanted to use this as evidence of intentional murder.

S1, EP11 "The Interrogation"

Jurors watched more unedited portions of her police interview she gave after Jorge Torres, her boyfriend. At the time detectives were still investigating his death as a potential homicide. In the interrogation, Boone gave police more background of her turbulent, drama-filled relationship she had with Torres in the years and months before he died. Boone sounded like her boyfriend's death was just an accident that happened while they were having fun drinking and playing games.

Burn Pile Murder Trial

S1, EP22 "Family Drama"

Family drama was the aim for Melody Farris' defense during their cross-examination of her oldest son. After all, the problems at home were what the prosecution team claimed led her to shoot and kill her husband and then burn and bury his body. Jurors learned about the problems in the Farris household over the years. Chris, the oldest child, admitted to issues like theft of money among family members, alcohol addiction and mental disorders.

Burn Pile Murder Trial

S1, EP23 "Family Matters"

Cross-examination continued on the eldest child in the Farris home. The Defense raised doubts in the state's case against her, claiming other people in the family had issues and their own motivations to have Gary Farris killed. Who would benefit from his death? If the defendant, Melody, who was the beneficiary of his life insurance, 401(k) and the family farm, were convicted of his murder, technically her oldest son, Chris, would get everything.

SC v. Alex Murdaugh

S1 "Watching Alex's SLED Interview"

The jury watched an unedited version of Alex Murdaugh's final police interview. It lasted an hour and a half. And it included questions about Alex's alibi for the time Maggie and Paul were killed.

SC v. Alex Murdaugh

S1, EP113 "Am I a Suspect?"

Suitcase Murder Trial

S1, EP4 "The 911 Call"

Suitcase Murder Trial

S1, EP5 "Responding Officers To The Scene"

The unedited version of the police bodycam questioning Sarah Boone on what happened played in court. Prosecutors claimed she intentionally killed her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, using a suitcase in a deadly game of hide-and-seek. Burn Pile Murder Trial

S1, EP18 "Death Of The Family's Patriarch"

According to the defendant's oldest adult child, family tension was brewing in the weeks leading up to Gary Farris' death. This family tension involved accusations of mischief with finances and spousal cheating. Gary went missing out of the blue during the July 4th holiday. All of his four adult children were panicking and went on a search. Unbeknownst to them at the time, their father was shot to death at home and his remains were burnt up and buried outside.

Burn Pile Murder Trial

Chris Farris gave the jury his memory of events that led up to that tragic discovery. After Gary's remains were discovered and the police began their investigation, confusion was the first to set in among his four adult children and then suspicions arose.
