The Bounty Hunter
Jim Kipp (Randolph Scott) is a bounty hunter hired to find three robbers who committed a daring heist three years ago. When he arrives in a small town near the robbery, he senses that the thieves may be living there. However, many of the townspeople -- including Dr. Spencer (Harry Antrim), his daughter, Julie (Dolores Dorn), and barmaid Alice (Marie Windsor) -- are put on edge by Kipp's presence and want him gone. Kipp perseveres, hatching a plan that he thinks will draw out the bandits.

In Texas, gunfighter Brazos Kane (Randolph Scott) decides to lay down his guns for good and rides out to visit his best friend -- only to witness his murder. When Brazos takes the body to the nearby ranch of the powerful Banner (Griff Barnett), the rancher accuses him of the murder. Brazos leaves Banner's daughter, Bess (Barbara Britton), a vital piece of evidence in the crime, and then must evade Banner and a crooked sheriff as he reluctantly takes up arms to prove his innocence.

When his son, Rick (Earl Holliman), rapes and murders a Native American woman (Ziva Rodann) married to U.S. marshal Matt Morgan (Kirk Douglas), Belden arrogantly declines to allow his son's arrest. The marshal, once a friend of Belden's, takes on the rancher's henchmen and Rick's accomplice (Brian Hutton) to bring the killer to justice.

Bill Mayhew (John Payne) has been rescuing his wayward brother, Sam (Skip Homeier), for years. After one too many saves, Mayhew decides it's high time to strike out on his own and let Sam fix his own problems. Leaving Texas for Colorado, Mayhew quickly finds work with John Sutton (Ray Middleton), a stable owner, and falls for the boss' daughter (Mona Freeman). When Sam arrives in town, he goes to work for the corrupt Jim Donovan (Lee J. Cobb), which puts the brothers at odds.
