The Saga of Hemp Brown
A U.S. cavalry officer, Hemp Brown (Rory Calhoun), runs into some serious trouble when the party of civilians and troops he's bringing to a nearby Army fort is ambushed. A woman is killed during the gunfight, and money is stolen by the bandits. The leader of the gang, Jed Givens (John Larch), is an acquaintance of Brown, who implicates the fugitive during the subsequent trial. But Brown is court-martialed and booted from the Army. Brown tracks down Givens to restore honor to his name.

A drifter crossing the Arizona desert routs a band of marauding Apaches and rescues the young survivor of a massacre.

Looking for revenge, Cole tracks the judge to a theater where Langtry is set to perform.

After his partner is killed, aging Texas Ranger Jake Cutter (John Wayne) is assigned to capture gambler Paul Regret (Stuart Whitman), a condemned prisoner who managed to escape hanging, and return him to Louisiana to face his sentence. But once Cutter has him in custody, they encounter the Comancheros, a fierce band of outlaws providing guns and booze to the Comanches, and are forced to work together to stop them. When Regret proves his worth in the fight, Cutter begins to reevaluate his duties.

The last job of Calvary Captain Nathan Brittles (John Wayne) before retirement is to soothe relations with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Indians after Custer's last stand. At the same time, he must transport the wife (Mildred Natwick) and niece (Joanne Dru) of his commanding officer to a safe destination. After both his missions stall, Brittles attempts a face-to-face meeting with an important Native American chief in order to stave off an impending war.
