The Union army sends a Confederate prisoner (Howard Keel) to Arizona as a lawman, but he doubles as a spy.
McLintock!
Aging rancher George Washington McLintock, a wealthy self-made man, is forced to deal with numerous personal and professional problems. Seemingly everyone wants a piece of his enormous farmstead, including high-ranking government men, McLintock's own sons and nearby Native Americans. As McLintock tries to juggle his various adversaries, his wife, who left him two years previously, suddenly returns. But she isn't interested in her husband -- she wants custody of their daughter.
The Cockeyed Cowboys of Calico County
In the Wild West, Charley (Dan Blocker), a blacksmith, is a nice man but not the smartest in his little town. And when his quest for a mail-order bride is fruitless, he's embarrassed and threatens to ditch. But since he's the only blacksmith around, the people decide to hatch a plan to keep Charley around. Eventually, they pay local saloon girl Sadie (Nanette Fabray) to pose as the missing bride. But complications ensue as Charley begins to fall in love with Sadie.
The Shakiest Gun in the West
In 1870, bumbling Philadelphia-based dentist Jesse W. Haywood (Don Knotts) travels west to set up a practice in the frontier. There, he meets Penelope Cushings (Barbara Rhoades), a pretty bandit who has agreed to investigate an Indian gun-smuggling operation in exchange for her freedom. When their wagon train is attacked, Penelope shoots several Indians dead. However, Jesse falsely assumes it was his errant gunshots that saved the wagon, and soon earns a reputation as a great gunslinger.
Destry Rides Again
The small town of Bottleneck is under the control of Kent (Brian Donlevy), a power-hungry boss who gets control over the local cattle ranchers by winning a rigged game of cards. When the local sheriff questions the legitimacy of the game, Kent has him killed and names the town drunk, Dimsdale (Charles Winninger), as sheriff. What Kent doesn't know is that Dimsdale knows legendary lawman Tom Destry, who in turn sends his daring son Tom Destry Jr. (James Stewart) to Bottleneck to save the day.
Count Three and Pray
After fighting for the Union during the Civil War, Luke Fargo (Van Heflin) is greeted with resentment when he returns home to his small southern town. Luke has a reputation as a rogue, but he's reinvented himself as a man of God and plans to fix up the town's damaged church. Recalling their romantic past, Georgina Decrais (Allison Hayes) tries to reclaim Luke. But, to the dismay of some suspicious townspeople, he concentrates on mentoring an unsophisticated young woman, Lissy (Joanne Woodward).
