The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league consisting of 32 teams, divided equally between the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC). The NFL is one of the four major professional sports leagues in North America and the highest professional level of American football in the world. The NFL is one of the most popular professional sports leagues in the world, with fans and players from around the globe. The regular season of the NFL runs from early September to mid December, consisting of 17 weeks of games. Each team plays 16 games out of their respective conference and has one bye week to rest and prepare for the rest of the season. At the end of the regular season, the top six teams from each conference will qualify for the playoffs. The playoffs are single-elimination brackets, which determine the two teams that will play in the championship game, the Super Bowl. The NFL has a long and distinguished history. It was founded in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association before changing its name to the National Football League in 1922. The first Super Bowl was held in 1967 and has since become the most watched sporting event in the world. Legendary players like Tom Brady, Brett Favre, and Lawrence Taylor are considered some of the greatest players in the history of the league. The NFL boasts some of the most successful teams in sports history, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, and the New England Patriots. The NFL is renowned as one of the premier leagues in the world of professional American football, with an emphasis on competitive and thrilling entertainment. The season culminates in a grand finale, the Super Bowl, which has become one of the most prestigious and highly watched events on television. Houston Texans at New England Patriots
NFLDrake Maye makes his NFL debut as his Patriots host the Texans. Maye, the third-overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, takes over at quarterback. Houston is without Nico Collins for at least four games after placing the star receiver on injured reserve.
Washington Commanders at Baltimore Ravens
NFLThe Commanders visit the Ravens. Washington has won four in a row to stand at 4-1 for the first time since 2008. Jayden Daniels (WAS) and Lamar Jackson (BAL) have both cracked 300 yards rushing on the season. Baltimore leads the Beltway Bowl 4-3.
Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans
NFLThe Colts visit the Titans. Indianapolis swept the season set in 2023. Tennessee won its first game in 2024 prior to its bye, dominating Miami 31-12 in prime time. Starting quarterbacks Anthony Richardson (IND) and Will Levis (TEN) are questionable.
Arizona Cardinals at Green Bay Packers
NFLThe Packers host the Cardinals. In Week 5, Arizona rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to win 24-23 at San Francisco. The Packers beat the Rams 24-19. Green Bay's Xavier McKinney has one interception in every game in 2024 to lead the NFL.
