This detective later answered questions under a probing cross-examination.

After she died, the defendant gave police his wife's calcium pill bottle which led them to investigate whether someone had tampered with it.

Michelle Stephens, the former mistress of Yazeed Essa, wrapped up her testimony about Rosemarie's death. Next, the crime lab report on the physical evidence in this case included details about the victim's calcium pills which the state said had been laced with cyanide. Evidence showed that her dried saliva and vomit found in her car also tested positive for it.

Dr. Yazeed Essa is alleged to have poisoned his wife, Rosemarie Essa, to death with cyanide. Essa fled the country when he became a suspect, prompting an international manhunt. He was arrested in Cyprus and extradited back to the U.S. to stand trial.
