Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation dominated testimony. Prosecutors wanted to show jurors that key Crime Scene evidence analyzed had Melody Farris's DNA on them. This went along with the state's Theory on how Gary was killed. His wife shot him and then moved his body to a PURN pile in attempt to get rid of any signs of his remains. Finding and linking Melody Farris' DNA on the tractor and a bullet inside the home was more proof that she was involved in this murder.

The thorough but limited autopsy report was explained to jurors. Forensic pathologist Dr. Stephen Atkinson admitted how hard it was to find out how physically Gary Farris died because his remains were so burnt up. A process of elimination was the way he concluded the manner of death. Dr. Atkinson claimed Gary's remains showed no signs of a natural death, accidental death nor suicide. So, only homicide and undetermined were the only classifications left.

The county coroner who arrived on the scene where Gary Farris's human remains were found in the burn pile. This coroner happened to live just up the road from the 10-acre Family Estate. It took several months for a death certificate to be finalized in Gary's death. It took nearly a year for police to narrow down their homicide in his fatal shooting when they arrested his wife, Melody, in another state.

Melody Farris' daughter recalled the day her dad, Gary, was found dead with his remains charred in a burn pile. Things got emotional when Emily Farris recalled for the jury they moment she learned of her father was found dead. She had her own suspicion that he mother had something to with her father's death. This came as soon as investigators found the Bullet lodged in the chest of Gary's remains and concluded his death was a homicide.

Prosecutors called in her daughter, Emily, to bring light to the jury on how her mother was cheating on her father, Gary, years before he was killed. According to Emily, her years-long affair wrecked the family. The jury then learned more about the drama in the family in the lead up to Gary's fatal shooting. This time the perspective came from the youngest daughter, who told jurors that Melody forced her to invite her secret lover to her own wedding.

A close friend of the defendant's son took that stand. He happened to be with Scott Farris earlier that morning when Gary Farris was found dead with his human remains charred in a burn pile on the family property. Next, the youngest child of Gary and Melody Farris testified. Jurors already heard extensive testimony from two of the couple's adult sons.

According to prosecutors in their opening statements, money was the motive for this murder. Next, Melody Farris' defense delivered their opening remarks to the jury. They claimed police acted on confirmation bias when they allegedly narrowed erroneously on the defendant for the death of her husband, Gary. A complicated family coupled with a complicated police investigation all led to fingers pointing at Melody Farris for first-degree murder.
