S1, EP17 "Chris Farris"

The jury learned about the family problems that led to a tragic murder and an attempted cover-up. The defendant's own son testified against her. The State alleged that family drama dealing with finances and extramarital affairs led to Gary Farris' death at the hands of his wife. Chris Farris, the couple's oldest child, gave background on his family. Context was important for jurors in understanding how the Farris' home life gradually turned turbulent leading to murder.

S1, EP15 "What Did The Neighbor Know?"

The State called in a fire battalion chief to the stand. Crime scene investigators who testified earlier recalled that the burn pile where Gary Farris' remains were found was so hot and burning they called the fire department to come out. Jurors then listened to testimony from a close neighbor to the Farris family. Just days before Gary's remains were found, he went missing. His family began searching the property and the neighborhood for him.

S1, EP14 "Gun Fire Tests"

Jurors watched test-firing that police did inside the Farris home during their on-site investigation. The aim was to reenact the manner in which Gary Farris lost his life to fatal gunshots and then his dead body was dragged to a burn pile to be incinerated and then later buried. Prosecutors had former Lieutenant Chris Shaw walk the jury through how Gary was fatally shot in his own home and his remains covered up in a burn pile outside.

According to prosecutors in their opening statements, money was the motive for this murder. Next, Melody Farris' defense delivered their opening remarks to the jury. They claimed police acted on confirmation bias when they allegedly narrowed erroneously on the defendant for the death of her husband, Gary. A complicated family coupled with a complicated police investigation all led to fingers pointing at Melody Farris for first-degree murder.
