Burn Pile Murder Trial
S1, EP13 "Task-Oriented"Melody Farris's defense attorney had more questions for the lead investigator in this case. A CSI team led by a forensic anthropologist excavated and collected the victim's remains found buried in a burn pile on his property. Lead investigator Chris Shaw had more to say on how his team processed the massive crime scene. Police reenacted the fatal shooting in the home with a test fire on a dummy model.

S1, EP14 "Gun Fire Tests"Jurors watched test-firing that police did inside the Farris home during their on-site investigation. The aim was to reenact the manner in which Gary Farris lost his life to fatal gunshots and then his dead body was dragged to a burn pile to be incinerated and then later buried. Prosecutors had former Lieutenant Chris Shaw walk the jury through how Gary was fatally shot in his own home and his remains covered up in a burn pile outside.

S1, EP15 "What Did The Neighbor Know?"The State called in a fire battalion chief to the stand. Crime scene investigators who testified earlier recalled that the burn pile where Gary Farris' remains were found was so hot and burning they called the fire department to come out. Jurors then listened to testimony from a close neighbor to the Farris family. Just days before Gary's remains were found, he went missing. His family began searching the property and the neighborhood for him.

S1, EP16 "The Close Neighbor"The neighbor caught up in the middle of the Farris family drama continued his testimony. Terry Braswell recalled his close relationship with Melody and what the two of them were texting each other in the lead-up to her husband's disappearance and eventual death. He told jurors he and she were so close he knew about her longtime affair she was having outside of her marriage. While Braswell admitted that he didn't get too involved in her affairs, he did have enough details on what was happening.

S1, EP12 "Challenging The Police's Investigation"Melody Farris's lead attorney had more questions for the lead crime scene investigator testifying. Chris Shaw recalled working with his team to meticulously identify and collected the human remains of Gary found charred in a fire pit. The Defense nitpicked the lead crime scene investigator's work in this case. Melody's defense accused police of confirmation bias in only zeroing in on her for the murder of her husband.
Burn Pile Murder Trial
S1, EP11 "Human Remains"Jurors learned of the details of the burn pile where Gary Farris's charred remains were found. Investigators did their best to sift, excavate and collect all the identified human remains in that pile area. The human remains first dug up by police were presented in Court. One of the crime scene technicians claimed that the burn pit where the victim's remains were found was still smoldering. The lead crime scene investigator remembered how hot it was when he started working in the area.

S1, EP10 "The Lead Investigator"So far, crime scene photos have dominated this trial. Just hours after police showed up to the scene where Gary Farris' remains lay, crime scene technicians took numerous photos, flew drones, and processed key pieces of evidence. The prosecution team hoped all the crime scene photos would show evidence proving Melody killed her husband of 38 years. What started off with a hunch that he accidentally fell into a fire pit turned into details of a cover-up in a fatal shooting.
