Gene (Gene Autry) and his sidekick, Frog (Smiley Burnette), learn that a band of crooks is trying to illegally transport cattle carrying a contagious disease. Gene and Frog alert the sheriff of a nearby town, but the crooks then kill the lawman and try to pin the murder on Gene. Luckily, with the help of the dead man's daughter, Marjorie (Dorothy Dix), Gene clears his name and takes over as the new sheriff. He and Frog then set out to bring the outlaws to justice.

Rio Grande

Lieutenant Colonel Kirby Yorke (John Wayne) heads a cavalry post on the Texas side of the Rio Grande, defending settlers against Apaches launching raids from the Mexican side of the river. When Yorke's 16-year-old son, Jeff (Claude Jarman Jr.) -- who he has not seen since he was a baby -- shows up at the post as one of the new recruits, he treats him more harshly than the others. Things are further complicated when Yorke's estranged wife, Kathleen (Maureen O'Hara), returns to take her son home.

How the West Was Won

Setting off on a journey to the west in the 1830s, the Prescott family run into a man named Linus (James Stewart), who helps them fight off a pack of thieves. Linus then marries daughter Eve Prescott (Carroll Baker), and 30 years later goes off to fight in the Civil War with their son, with bloody results. Eve's sister, Lily (Debbie Reynolds), heads further west and has adventures with a professional gambler (Gregory Peck), stretching all the way to San Francisco and into the 1880s.
