Down-and-out former preacher Bill Hill (Christopher Walken) witnesses stranger Juvenal (Skeet Ulrich) save Virginia Worrell (Conchata Ferrell) from her abusive husband, Elwin (John Doe), by defusing the latter's anger -- and ending his wife's blindness.
