Coast Guard Cape Disappointment: Pacific NorthwestCape Disappointment, located at the mouth of the Columbia River in southwestern Washington, is the largest Coast Guard search-and-rescue station on the Northwest coast of the United States. The series -- part of the Weather Channel's "Coast Guard" franchise that also includes series about operations in Alaska and Florida -- follows the men and women stationed at Cape Disappointment who respond to as many as 400 rescue calls annually, many of which are caused by strong, wind-driven ocean swells during winter storms.
