Comedian and stage actress Carol Burnett, who first gained popularity during her stint on "The Gary Moore Show," hosted this one-hour variety series. Her talented supporting players included Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence (who got the job based on her resemblance to Burnett) and Lyle Waggoner. Skits often featured guest stars, such as Mama Cass of the Mamas and the Papas or singer Steve Lawrence. One sketch, "The Family" (which featured Lawrence as the persnickety Mama and Burnett as her hotheaded daughter) was later spun-off into it's own sitcom.

Guest Stars Mel Tormé, Nanette Fabray, and Don Rickles pitch in to help tell The Tin Pan Alley Story; Mel and Carol are songwriting team Potts and Panz on their road to -- and from -- stardom.

Featuring skits -- "Carol and Sis: PTA Show", "Classic Movie Theatre: Mrs Magnificent.", and songs -- "Day In, Day Out"; "Skylark" and "The Trolley Song".

Carol's guests tonight are Garry Moore and Durward Kirby; sketches include Carol as an increasingly-less dignified princess rehearsing a toast, and a peek inside the United States Safety Committee.

Guests include Michele Lee, Flip Wilson and Vivian Blondell.
