Members of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital care for the injured during the Korean War and use humor to escape from the horror and depression of the situation. Among the 4077's people are Capts. Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce and "Trapper John" McIntire, Majs. Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan and Frank Burns, and Cpl. Walter "Radar" O'Reilly.

Hawkeye and Trapper arrange for an unauthorized but much-needed nose job for an enlisted man.

A dispossessed Korean family and a girl with a GI baby cause problems for the 4077th.

For a few days the 4077th has no casualties, but when the fighting picks up, it is back to business as usual.

The personnel of the 4077th respond in the usual manner when supply lines are cut short, and they face critical shortages.
