In this comedy, married New York couple Paul and Jamie Buchman (Paul Reiser, Helen Hunt) share their lives and offer wit and wisdom about relationships. Paul is a documentary filmmaker and Jamie works as a public relations specialist. Together, they grow and mature as they learn the art of staying married and loving it. Along for the ride is their ever-tolerant dog, Murray; Jamie's best friend, Fran; Jamie's sister, Lisa; and Paul's cousin, Ira. Playing recurring characters on the series are veteran actors including Lisa Kudrow and Hank Azaria.

The death of another Paul Buchman ruins the Buchmans' credit and prompts Paul's curiosity about the deceased.

Paul gets a job working in Chicago for two months, only coming home at weekends. He and Jamie hate being separated, but when they both plan surprise visits to the other it's a disaster.

Fran tells Jamie that she may be pregnant; Ira tells Paul he's got someone pregnant, but there are lots of misunderstandings until the truth is revealed.

Paul invests in a virtual reality company. At first Jamie doesn't approve, but when she tries the technology out she finds she likes a virtual Paul that always agrees with her. Appearances by Christie Brinkley and Andre Agassi.
