This long-running animated comedy focuses on the eponymous family in the town of Springfield in an unnamed U.S. state. The head of the Simpson family, Homer, is not a typical family man. A nuclear-plant employee, he does his best to lead his family but often finds that they are leading him. The family includes loving, blue-haired matriarch Marge, troublemaking son Bart, overachieving daughter Lisa and baby Maggie. Other Springfield residents include the family's religious neighbor, Ned Flanders, family physician Dr. Hibbert, Moe the bartender and police chief Clancy Wiggum.

Bart and Milhouse explore the perks of adulthood following a shaving experiment; Marge tries to save Maggie from the dangers of children's TV; includes a broadcast of Oscar-nominated short film "Maggie Simpson in: The Longest Daycare."

Bart feel guilty when Nelson helps him win a race, besting Milhouse; when the July 4th fireworks are canceled due to budget constraints, Homer tries to help.

Homer digs up his mother's past, discovers his true middle name and meets her old friends.

School receives an enormous grant as a result of Lisa's cheating on a test; Homer's appetite causes trouble.
