Based on the 2005 movie of the same name, this sitcom picks up where the film left off, and now that Nick and Suzanne have been married for six months, growing pains are beginning to emerge in their blended family. Suzanne's two kids would rather hang out with friends or play computer games than connect with Nick, whose own mother isn't thrilled with his marriage or her new role as grandma. Meanwhile, Suzanne's brother Terrence is very protective of his only sister, and he uses every opportunity to remind Nick that he'd better be good to her.

When Lindsey decides to adopt a vegan lifestyle, Suzanne convinces Nick they should go vegan as well; they come to regret this decision when they learn the extent of Lindsey's dedication.

When Nick messes up Suzanne's plans for spring break, he turns the house into a makeshift resort, and promises to give the family the best vacation ever.

Nick refuses to give Lindsey money for a concert, so Lindsey resorts to stealing sixty dollars from Gigi's purse; when Gigi discovers the missing money, she blames Kevin for the theft.

After Kevin watches the horror film "The Sixth Sense," he starts having nightmares that disrupt Nick and Suzanne's sleep.
